Letter From Children’s Ministry Directors

Dear Pleasant Valley Family,

We are excited about our new roles in the PVCC Children’s Ministry.  Our new “team” ministry approach will allow each of us to be highly focused on specific areas while still drawing from the expertise of each team member.  The ministry responsibilities are divided between Kathy Carter in Day School and Nursery, Linda Parker in Preschool (2’s through Kindergarten), and Tina Brown in Elementary (1st through 6th).

Our goal is that children’s ministry be centered on knowing God, building relationships, and learning to serve. We want to lay a strong spiritual foundation for our children as we work with teachers and parents to provide the tools and resources you need.

Please be praying for us as we unite around the common cause of loving and leading our children in serving the Lord together.

In His Service,

Tina Brown, Kathy Carter, Linda Parker

Kathy Carter to Become Day School Director PDF Print E-mail

Children's Ministry is an important and vibrant ministry in our church and we are blessed with many young families and children.

Recently, Rachel Thurman tendered her resignation as the director of our Day School. She has served in this capacity for some time and has chosen another career path. We thank her for her efforts and wish her the very best in her new career.

Kathy CarterIn evaluating whom we would choose to replace Rachel, we looked at the qualifications that we wanted in that position and determined that the person who could best serve there was already on staff, our Children's Minister, Kathy Carter. The Youth Cluster of Elders met and prayed and decided to meet with her about this. She took some time to pray and talk to her family about it, and has decided to become our Day School Director and will remain our Nursery Director.

That means our Preschool and Elementary Departments will be handled by other people. Tina Brown has been our Elementary Department Coordinator, part-time, for some time and will retain that position.

We will begin seeking a part-time Coordinator for our Preschool Department. This will be a different arrangement; we have had a full-time Children's Minister for some time. We felt that having the Nursery and the Day School under one umbrella had benefits, as well as dividing that big group and age-span under three different leaders.

We ask for your prayers as we begin this new arrangement, for Kathy, for Tina and the new Coordinator to be named later, and Rachel as she begins her new career.

Prayer From Scripture

Week of May 23: “God, please be a refuge and strength, and ever-present help in trouble for (Child's Name), so Your child will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” ~ from Psalm 46:1-3
