Flu Season is Upon Us Dear Parents,
Many of us are concerned about the flu season. We want you to know that we are taking the precautions necessary to ensure a healthy environment for your children to learn about God.
Our teaching staff will be working with us as we work to make this an inviting place for your child.
Here is a complete list of our guidelines. (And see this PDF from the Centers for Disease Control for more information.) In Him, Tina Brown Kathy Carter Linda Parker PV Children’s Ministry Team PV Children’s Ministry Health Guidelines Prevention Reminders □ Students and staff with flu-like symptoms need to stay home at least 24 hrs AFTER having no fever or signs of a fever □ This should be determined without the use of fever-reducing medications □ In high risk healthcare setting such as child care facilities; students and facility with a confirmed case – a 7- day period away from school would be recommended
□ Practice good hand hygiene. Students and staff should wash their hands often with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective. □ The main way the flu is spread is thru coughing or sneezing, so it is important to cough and sneeze into a tissue or cough and sneeze into their elbow or shoulder. □ Stay home if you’re sick. Keep sick students home. This means that the virus stays put and is not spread.
□ Teach children to wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds (as long as it takes to sing “Happy Birthday” twice) □ Alcohol-based hand cleaners need to contain 60% alcohol.
